Aecon-led consortium Red River Biosolids Partners has been awarded an $815 million contract by the City of Winnipeg to upgrade the North End Water Pollution Control Centre's sewage treatment and biosolids facilities. The project, which began with a collaborative development phase, will enhance the plant's capacity and efficiency to meet environmental standards and support population growth. Construction is set to start following the development phase, with operations expected to begin in late 2030 and final completion by mid-2031. This upgrade is one of North America's largest water infrastructure projects and will help protect waterways while supporting economic growth in the region.
