What is a Market Order in US Stocks

This order allows immediate execution at the best available price. However, the execution price is not guaranteed. If the order is placed outside of regular trading hours (21:30-04:00 WIB or 20:30-03:00 WIB during Daylight Saving Time), the order will be processed when the market opens.

Market orders placed outside of trading hours will become “Pending Market Orders” and will be executed when the market opens. If it turns out that when the market opens the stock price goes up or down, your order will still be executed and the units you receive will be adjusted to the market price. Of course, the transaction fees charged to your transaction may also change according to the execution price and the units received.

You can also buy shares in dollars or shares, but the option to buy shares is only available during trading hours.

Note: If you want to ensure your order is executed at a specific price or better, use Limit Order.

Example:

You want to buy the stock right away and don't care what the current market price is. The market price when you hit the buy button is $145.00, but because this is a Market Order, the number of units you will receive will adjust.
